Distributed algorithms for cyber-physical energy systems

The “Rudolf Chaudoire-Prize” of this year is awarded to Dr. Alexander Engelmann supporting his plans for a research stay at the University of Wisconsin Madison, USA. Dr. Engelmann’s work focuses on distributed optimization and control algorithms for cyber-physical systems with special emphasis on energy systems. Distributed algorithms are key for operating cyber-physical systems efficiently and with a limited data exchange. Dr. Engelmann will invest the price donation to do joint research with leading groups in the field of numerical optimization algorithms.

Rudolf Chaudoire was an entrepreneur and industrialist from the Ruhr area who was especially committed to supporting young people’s vocational education. Named after him, the Rudolf Chaudoire Foundation was established by testamentary decree to support young academics and their research. Since 1995, the Rudolf Chaudoire Prize is awarded to exceptional academics at TU Dortmund University.
