eKI4DS – Explainable AI for Dynamic Stability

eKI4DS aims to access the dynamic stability of a power system in a resource-efficient manner, using explainable AI methods. This is motivated by the sheer amount of possible fault scenarios in a power system at any given time point and the computational burden of dynamic simulations to (conventionally) calculate the stabililty of the grid. The goal of the project is to further develop first explainable AI approaches in a way to be usable for simulation of transmission grid operation.

eKI4DS is a BMWE-funded project that includes the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology (IEE) and the ie³ institute as project partners. The project runtime is from 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2027.
